Creative Ways to Incorporate Your Television into Your Interior Design

Televisions now often feature in several different rooms in any one house. People might once have confined them to the living room or den, but now you can find TV sets in bedrooms, kitchens and even bathrooms. With new design innovations and creative ideas, there's no need to keep your television on top of a TV unit. You can play around with where you place your TV, and new technology even allows you to hide it away when it's not in use. If you're stuck for where to put your televisions, read on for ideas on how to incorporate them into your interior design.

Hide It Away

If you're remodeling one of your rooms, you could think about installing a television set-up where you can hide your TV away when it's not in use. You might have seen these in posh hotel rooms. You can have a hidden panel, where you store your television set and from which your TV can rise at the touch of a button. If you think your TV ruins the look of the rest of the room when it's not in use, this is a great option. But if that's a bit out of your price range, you can hide your TV in other ways too. For example, a spare cupboard could serve as the perfect place to stash away a set.

The Outdoor TV

You can now have your television set outside. Outdoor TVs are perfect for people who find themselves getting bored when they're out in the yard, or don't want to be stuck inside when they're watching something. You can choose an outdoor TV or, for a cheaper option, use a standard television set with a protective shield. Surround a Flat Screen with Art

The problem with televisions is that they can look a little boring when they're turned off. Make your TV a part of the art display on your wall by surrounding it with picture frames. Doing this incorporates your television into a gallery, so it's not just a boring necessity but part of your artwork instead. You can change up the art around it too, to keep things fresh. And you could even display something on the screen when you're not watching TV, for a moving piece of artwork.

Create Smooth Lines

Sometimes the reason television sets stand out too much is that they physically stand out from the flat planes of your interior design. To get rid of this effect, have most of the TV unit hidden in a bookcase, unit or even in the wall. With the screen level with whatever you've hidden your set in, it gives a much smoother look. Your TV will be less noticeable when it's not in use, and look much less awkward.

If you're bored of the way you usually place your television, start thinking outside of the box. There are all sorts of creative ways you can position it without using a television unit. Use side tables, bookcases and even artist's easels to display your TV set.
